    During our weekend in Albemarle County, we spent one day getting away from civilization at the county’s best kept secret, Totier Creek Reservoir Park. The following day we toured the county’s best known landmark, Monticello, and dined in Charlottesville.

    With its beaches, wild ponies, and Virginia’s only launch site, Chincoteague Island is a hard act to follow. We biked, fished, hiked, and went kayaking. However, seeing an empty beach at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge during the height of tourist season rates as a highlight of the trip.
